Ron passed away February 23rd surrounded by his family. Ron was truly a wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather. He was caring, compassionate, high achieving and hard working.
Born in Chicago Illinois in 1936 and raised in Ottawa Illinois Ron ould graduate from Ottawa High School in 1954 and later attended Northern Illinois University.
Ron met the love of his life Phyllis Jean McConnaughay in the summer of 1955. Ron and PJ would marry in 1958 and move from Ottawa to Wheaton Illinois to begin their married lives.
Ron had a successful career in the Building Materials Industry that began in 1958 in Chicago Illinois. He began a a Quality Control Field Representative for Material Service Corporation. His strong work ethic and desire to learn and grow yielded him his first managerial position as Manager of Quality Control for M.S.C. in 1964.
Ron was instrumental in development of high strength concrete products. In 1963, Ron and PJ moved their family, Doug and David to Loch Lomond, a small community in Mundelein, Illinois on hour Northwest of Chicago.
After 16 happy years and long commute times they moved to Lincolnshire Woods bringing them closer to Chicago where Ron continued to work.
By 1970, Ron was promoted to Vice President of Sales for M.S.C.. When he resigned in May, 1984 he held the position of Senior V.P. of Sales.
In 1984, Ron would be hired by Lonestar Industries and move to the San Francisco Bay Area. He served as President of the West Coast until he retired in 1999.
Ron was instrumental in building the Lonestar brand in Ready Mix concrete, today the company is known as Cemex. After Ron retired he served on the Board of Directors for both Royal Trucking and Basalite Building Products. Ron was well respected by both his peers and competitors. He cherished the friendships he made over his long career.
Ron's greatest achievement in life was his family. His wife, children and grandchildren admired and adored him. His marriage of nearly 60 years to PJ was a truly amazing partnership. They shared a love for family, sports and travel. They spent many years in retirement traveling overseas, taking their grandchildren on trips and golf trips with his sons, twin brother and wife Bob and Donna.
Ron was an avid golfer, he was truly passionate about the game. After retirement he would golf 4 to 5 days a week with his "golf buddies" at Blackhawk. Ron and PJ have been proud Warriors tickets holders for many years.
Ron is survived by his Wife PJ Blick, Son, Douglas Blickensderfer Grandchildren, Eric and Linda Blickensderfer Son, David Blick Wife Carla Blick, Grandchildren Cody and Connor Blick, Brother Robert Blickensderfer, Wife Donna and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brother Larry Blickensderfer.
He touched many lives and left us with lasting memories.
He will be truly missed.
