We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of San Ramon Valley
Karen Lannen McSherry was born July 6th, 1954 in Pittsburg, PA to Thomas & Virginia Lannen.
The early part of her childhood was spent in Pennsylvania with her sister, Amy. When she was 7 years old, the family moved to Switzerland. There, she attended school and quickly became fluent in French. In her free time, she often skied in the Alps, a hobby that she enjoyed for much of her life.
She moved back to Pennsylvania to attend high school and graduated from Fox Chapel in 1972. Karen then went on to college, graduating from Colorado State University with a bachelor’s degree in French.
In the summer of 1980, Karen moved across the country to San Francisco, California where she met the love of her life, Craig McSherry. They were married three years later and went on to raise two children together, Sarah and Craig James Jr. (CJ).
Her children were her absolute pride and joy. She supported their interests growing up, spending much of her time at various events including soccer games, horseback riding lessons, track meets, baseball games, and football games. She always made sure that they felt loved and supported.
Karen also loved golfing, tennis, horseback riding, and spending time with her friends and family. Her happy place was sitting on a beach in Hawaii, her favorite vacation destination.
She always lived by the motto “live each day as if it were your last.” Her family can honestly say that she did just that, living her life to the fullest.
On June 7th, 2022, Karen passed away after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 67 years old and left this world peacefully, surrounded by family in her home in Florida.
Her memory lives on through her husband Craig and her children, Sarah & CJ.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Karen on Friday July 29th at Wilson and Kratzer Chapel, 825 Hartz Way, Danville, CA at 11:30am.
