Elizabeth "Betty" Payette was born in Bellis, Alberta, Canada on September 9, 1921. Betty's completion of life well lived for 95 years, ended peacefully on March 4, 2017. She resided in Danville, CA the last year of her life. Betty was a former long term resident of Oakland, CA for 63 years. Betty met her future husband Joseph, who was in the Army Air Force in Canada during WWII, at a dance. They married in Edmonton, Alberta and settled in Rhode Island and back to Canada for several months. They ventured to Oakland in the early 1950's which they enjoyed as their permanent home. Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband Joseph (2001) after 56 years of marriage; her sister Lynn Walker (2010); nephew Keith Walker; niece Janice Walker and granddaughter Janine Payette-Appleford (2016). She is survived by her two sons James (Claudia) of San Ramon, CA and David (Elizabeth) of Roseville, CA; beloved grandchildren Greg Payette of Danville, CA and Meredeth Payette of Chicago, IL; cherished great-grandchildren Mikayla Payette, Justin Payette and James Appleford; nephew Douglas Walker and niece Lisa Nemeth and their families from Canada. More than anything, she will be remembered for her devotion to family. She was a thoughtful, generous and loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many. She had an open heart and positive cheerful attitude about life. Her spirit and energy will be missed by all. Treasured memories of Betty will not be forgotten and she will live in our hearts forever. Private family graveside ceremony will take place at San Joaquin National Cemetery, Santa Nella Village, CA where she will join her husband Joseph.
