Dominador Cabusora Ferrer

April 15, 1934 ~ December 10, 2020 (age 86)

Tribute

Dominador Cabusora Ferrer, 86, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2020 with family by his side. Dominic or Doming, as he was also known, was born on April 15, 1934 and was the third youngest of seven children born to Celedonio and Godofreda of Baguio City, Philippines.

He attended grade and high school at St. Louis Boys School in Baguio City and later attended Far Eastern University in Manila, earning his Bachelor of Science in Commerce Degree, with a major in Accounting.

On January 1968, Dominic took to heart the saying “Love Thy Neighbor” and married Julie, his neighbor a few doors down. With their union, they had three sons, Martin, Joseph & Julius and a daughter, Sofia.

During the early 70’s, Dominic started his own business, Mirafer Marketing, which sold tires to local businesses that owned a fleet of industrial vehicles. With his ambition and wanting to provide a better life for his growing family, he asked his wife’s brother, Paul, to continue to run the business and in 1978, Dominic moved to the United States where he lived with his sister Juliet Kidwell and her family. As a new resident, he worked at several retail and manufacturing jobs and was able to save enough money to bring his family to the United States two years later.

With his family now stateside and his drive to provide, Dominic continued to work even harder, this time with two full-time jobs. He worked at Sola Optical at night for 15 years and at Petaluma Valley Hospital in their Environmental Services Department during the day, for 35 years. His diligence paid off and he was recognized twice as the Employee of the Year at Petaluma Valley Hospital in 1986, as well as 2006. At aged 80, he finally decided to retire.

After retirement, Dominic & Julie moved to San Ramon to be closer to family. Dominic  spent his time joking around with family at birthdays or other social gatherings. He had a plethora of life stories and jokes to go around and one can usually find him enjoying his favorite Filipino dishes and singing karaoke. He found pleasure in going to the casinos and playing Blackjack, as well as watching TV with either the news, his favorite comedians Jo Koy & Fluffy Iglesias or the games of his favorite sports teams, the Golden State Warriors, the San Francisco 49ers or his favorite boxer, Manny Pacquiao.

Dominic is preceded in death by his son Joseph, who died in infancy, as well as his furry grandchildren, Aspen, Roman & Hero.

He is survived by his loving wife Julie, his children Martin, Sofia, Julius & daughter-in-law Christine, his grandchildren Krystal, Kianna & JD, along with his furry grandchildren Lucky, Angel, Coco & Beau. He is also survived by his youngest sister, Conchita Mora.

His jovial charm will truly be missed by all those who were lucky enough to have known him. He was very well loved and will deeply be missed.

In observance of the shelter-in-place, Dominic’s Memorial will take place via livestream on Wednesday, December 30th at 11:00 am.
