Connie Marie Lopes age 79 passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 surrounded by her husband and daughters at John Muir hospital in Walnut Creek, CA. She was born and raised in San Francisco, CA on June 8, 1940. Parents Tony and Mary Cefalu moved the family from North Beach area (Little Italy) to the Silver Terrace area of San Francisco when Connie was entering into her teenage years. It was there that she met her future husband John at the age of 14. Connie went on to graduate from Balboa High School.
Connie and John were married on September 6, 1960 and moved to their first house in Westlake area of Daily City, CA. In 1962 Connie and John welcomed their daughter MaryAnn and in 1964 they welcomed their second daughter Leslie Marie. Connie was a stay-at-home mom and raising her daughters and taking care of the home base was her “proudest job”. In 1970, Connie and family moved to Walnut Creek, CA “Hello, Sunshine”. In 1972, the family relocated to Danville, CA a move that brought joy to Connie as she loved the sense of community newfound friends and eventually building her dream home.
Connie had a love for life and enjoyed entertaining friends at gala backyard parties, a good glass of wine, preparing wonderful Italian dinners, gardening, traveling to Europe, Alaska, her favorite locations in Hawaii, book club meetings, dancing with John and the friendship of fellow Diablo Country Club members. Family was Connie’s everything and priority in life. Connie lived a full and joyous life but unfortunately too short to fully enjoy the “Golden Years” that she and John looked forward too.
She is survived by her husband John, their daughters: MaryAnn Blanchietti (Mark) and Leslie Marie Williams (Randy); siblings: Mary Gehrmann, Anthony Cefalu, Joe Cefalu, Frank Cefalu and Beverly Lucero; niece Lori Gehrmann; grandchildren: Jenna and Anthony Blanchietti and Ryker and Ryder Williams.
