Barbara June Kerr, age 84 passed away peacefully in her Danville home March 6, 2019, her beloved home for 50 years. She was born June 29, 1934 in Toronto, Canada to English parents, Lewis and Alice Eames. She met David Kerr, 11 years her senior, in Toronto where they began their 54 year love affair. It only took one visit to the Bay Area to meet Dave’s aunt and uncle in the late 50’s to convince them to sell their business in Canada and move to California. They moved to Danville in 1969.
She worked as an office manager for several auto dealerships in the Walnut Creek area before starting her own business. Barbara spent her professional life working as a bookkeeper for many clients, mainly attorneys, health care professionals and engineers. Later in life she worked as a tax preparer for a group of CPAs. Barbara was a long time member of Soroptimist International, Inc. She participated in many of their activities including modeling for their fashion show fundraisers.
She loved to attend the annual Highland Scottish Games in Pleasanton, California with her son and travel with her daughter and son-in-law. She was always looking forward to the next new adventure. She was happiest when she had all of her three grandchildren with her around the pool or in the kitchen.
Barbara is survived by her two children, David and Anissa, daughter-in-law Charlene and son-in-law John and grandchildren, Patrick, Luke and Madison. Barbara was preceded in death by her adoring husband David, brother George and granddaughter Alice.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 2:00 at Wilson & Krater Chapel of San Ramon Valley, 825 Hartz Way, Danville CA 94526 with Fr. Gerald Pedrera officiating.
