We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of San Ramon Valley
Our Al passed away May 12, 2022, surrounded by his girls (Alaina, Rachel, and Dianna) and wife, Carolyn Krieg. Al was one of the most beloved people that existed. His love of fun and generosity were unequaled. People just loved him and he loved them. He will be missed incredibly.
Al was born in Cleveland, OH to parents, Anthony and Ethel. Following high school he traveled to Europe before heading to California where he worked construction for the next 48 years. He advanced from framing to supervision and then to General Contractor and started his own company, A-Trocano Construction. At the young age of 28, he remodeled the home of Lou Giraudo from Boudin Bakeries. Lou and the San Francisco inspectors were so impressed by his skill and work ethic at such a young age, that Lou decided to make Al their in-house General Contractor at Boudin Bakeries. He then built Boudin Bakeries all around the country, with his final project being located at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco. After Boudin, his passion became more devoted when he worked for Terra Nova Industries building high-end restaurants in San Francisco and all around the Bay Area.
Due to his kinetic energy, he accomplished many things. He loved to hunt, fish, cook, scuba dive and abalone dive. He started the yearly tradition of “Ab Fest” in Mendocino County, where friends and family would dive the Pacific by day and feast in the Redwoods by sundown. It became such a treasured trip that one year there was 43 of Al’s closest people in attendance. He traveled the Caribbean, Fiji and Palau to scuba diving. He cruised the Mediterranean to see the Greek Islands and traveled through Italy to see where he came from. He hunted almost anything but loved hunting deer and elk the most. Before turning thirty he built his own house in San Ramon for his family and it still stands strong and in the Trocano name today.
Al is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, and his daughters, Alaina, Rachel and Dianna Barnes (Steve). He is survived by his sister, Addie (AZ) and Marian (OH). Friends and family are invited to his Celebration of Life Service from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm May 19th, 2022, at the Wilson and Kratzer Mortuary on 825 Hartz Way, Danville, CA.
