We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Wilson & Kratzer Chapel of San Ramon Valley
Alan L. Grimm passed away on Wednesday, May 11, after a valiant battle with cancer. He touched many lives with his kind ways and loving heart. Alan was born in Toledo Hospital, but his home was in Waterville, OH.
He attended Waterville Elementary School during his early years, and his high school years were spent at Anthony Wayne High School in Whitehouse, OH. He was on the high school baseball and basketball teams, also participated in the bowling league, and in the school choir. He was in the Drama Club and played the lead part in The Miracle Worker as a senior. Alan was active in the Student Council all four years of high school, attaining the position of Vice President in his junior year, and President in his senior year. Alan then went on to college and graduated, in an accelerated program, from The Ohio State University in 1969, with a degree in Doctor of Dental Surgery, #17 in his class. During his years at OSU, Alan became an avid Buckeye fan, and that never changed. Alan joined the Navy after his college graduation and he completed a tour in Vietnam before receiving his Honorable Discharge to pursue his dental career. He remained in the Reserves until October, 1980.
Alan had a very successful private dental practice for 43 years in Milpitas, CA. He made many lasting friendships throughout his career, including staff, colleagues, and patients. He was a member of the Milpitas Chamber of Commerce, the Santa Clara County Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and the Seattle Study Club. Alan loved to travel, often in their RV. His passion was photography, but he also loved music and art. Whenever time allowed, he could be found on the golf course playing 18 holes, another favorite pastime.
Alan is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Vicki; devoted son, Kyle, of Orlando, FL; loving step-sons, Brian (Monica), of Chandler, AZ; and Christopher, of Mt. House, CA; 5 loving grandchildren, Dylan 22 (Marines), Ethan 18, Brianna 17, Peyton 11, and Jacey 9. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothy "Dee" Lawrence of Waterville, OH. Alan was predeceased by his parents; Walter and Beatrice Grimm, and his brother; Richard Grimm. His generous and loving spirit will be missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. Envelopes will be available for remembering Hospice East Bay in lieu of flowers, as requested by the family.
