Charlotte Elizabeth IrvingDecember 31, 1934 ~ January 25, 2018 (age 83)
Betsy Irving passed away with her children by her side in the evening on January 25th, 2018. She was born and raised in San Francisco, the oldest of three children to John and Elizabeth Ziel. As a single mother Betsy raised her children in Nicasio, CA where she was loved, respected and left an imprint on the lives on many. Upon leaving Nicasio she lived in Petaluma, CA for several years before spending her last fifteen in Danville as the ever present and loving Gigi to her granddaughters. Betsy’s professional career was long and varied. Originally a homemaker, she transitioned into being the parish secretary for St. Cecilia’s/St Mary’s in West Marin and then onto a long career working at Guide Dogs For The Blind in San Rafael. There was seldom a moment that one or several German Shepherds were not in her presence or care. Although she enjoyed her time and purpose at Guide Dogs, her life’s work and true pride was in moving to and caring for her grand children in Danville. Betsy was preceded in death by her parents as well as her siblings Patricia and John. She will be infinitely missed by her daughter and son-in-law Charlotte and Greg Knapp of Danville and son and daughter-in-law Ian and Sarah Irving of Novato. Her grandchildren Natalie and Camille Dean and Nathan and Jackie Irving are her most cherished legacy. Although she will be missed terribly, her life lessons, wit and compassion will live through us all and those who loved and knew her. There will be a celebration of Betsy’s life on Saturday February 3rd, 1:00 pm at The Sycamore South Side Club House, 1101 Greenbrook Drive in Danville, Ca.
